There are six models in the Captiva range, five of them featuring a 149bhp diesel engine under the bonnet, plus the front wheel drive 2.4 litre petrol model.
The diesel version has a top speed of 111mph, with the peak torque of 320NM arriving at a lowly 2,000 rpm which gives the powerplant a nice sinewy feel.
The Captiva diesel range starts with the five seater model at and £19,995 and features 17inch alloy wheels, front fog lamps, a leather trimmed steering wheel and gearknob, an eight speaker CD stereo with mP3 capability, a glovebox cooling system and a passengerside under seat storage drawer.
