02-06-2010 - Thank You

On Sunday 30th May, David Meek Group hosted a Hyundai World Cup Event in order to collect old balls and send them to SOS Africa to help children to become educated. The balls that we received are to be donated to them for sports equipment; Hyundai will also be donating sports kits and matching the number of balls that the public have brought in from around the UK.

Our event was a great success with much fun to be had, two members of the Hyundai Team brought with them a Subbutteo table and table football plus a skills challenge where guests were asked to kick a ball into the back of an i30, we know that may sound easy but in fact there was a cover that stopped the ball in all but two places and it was actually trickier than first expected. There were drinks and nibbles and a draw that meant you could win two tickets to the FIFA World Cup or a World Cup inspired hamper full of goodies for a barbeque.

SO CONGRATULATIONS TO MRS WILCOX THE WINNER OF OUR HAMPER!

07-05-2010 - The Public has voted Hyundai's I30 as the most satisfying car in Britain!

* The Hyundai i30 wins Auto Express customer satisfaction and reliability poll.
*
Over 23,000 British drivers return detailed surveys
*
Hyundai is the most improved brand overall.

Hyundai have just caused shockwaves by winning another satisfaction and reliability survey.

In the Driver Power Top 100 the i30 shot straight to number one and was named the most satisfying car to own by the drivers that run them – the people that should really know.

Completed by over 23,000 drivers, the Driver Power survey is compiled by Auto Express, the UK’s best selling weekly motoring magazine, and is considered to be Britain’s definitive poll on car reliability and satisfaction.

Last years winner, the Jaguar XF, among others was beaten by the Hyundai i30 this year an it is the first time a Korean Maker has won in the nine year history of the survey.  That means that Hyundai as a brand has jumped, an amazing, 12 places to finish sixth.

The readers of Which? Also voted it as the most reliable medium-sized car in a poll published late in 2009.

Hyundai UK’s managing director Tony Whitehorn said: ‘Thousands of new buyers have defected to Hyundai recently and they are genuinely surprised at the quality of the cars.  Owners are recommending Hyundai to their friends and neighbours and it is through this word-of-mouth recommendation that the brand is becoming so popular so quickly.’

The Hyundai i30 range starts at £12,300 and includes a five-door hatchback and estate variants.  Engines include an advanced turbo-diesel offering economy of more than 60 mpg and emissions of just 119g/km.

18-03-2010 - New Mitsubishi

New Mitsubishi

Tough, agile, reliable and incredibly practical the Mitsubishi ASX goes on sale in July 2010.

The new model has been made to deliver on every level, with low CO2 emissions and efficient and sharp design matching its driving dynamics.

Available with two new engines – a clean Diesel, and a Petrol engine both Euro V compliant. ‘Auto Stop and Go’ will also be available from the launch date helping to preserve your pocket and the environment!

As small SUV’s are tipped to be the next big thing in 2010 this may well be the vehicle you are looking for, and here is why – its smaller, more efficient, but still just as practical as the full sized alternatives.

18-03-2010 - The Hyundai iX35 - What People Say

Read the reviews on the Hyundai iX35

Car Dealer Magazine says:

“Take the badges off of it and you’d think new SUV was screwed together by the Germans. Yes, really.”

“The iX35 starts from an incredible £16,495 for the entry level style. To put that in perspective, that’s an SUV for less than a base Focus”

“The iX35 really is a dramatic leap forward for Hyundai. Taking the brand upmarket, but with a price tag that the marque’s buyers have become used to, life after scrappage might not be as hard as some dealers feared it would be.”

Motor Trader says:

“The iX35 is the best car to emerge from Hyundai yet and so long as quality standards can be maintained then rivals, particularly Nissan’s Quashqai, have much to fear.”

Hyundai Motor UK Managing Director, Tony Whitehorn says of Hyundai:

“We doubled our sales in 2009; I have never seen that in 30 Years in the industry.”

18-03-2010 - Hyundai Geneva Motor Show

Hyundai Blue Drive Vehicles

Hyundai has revealed its most recent answer to economy cars, Blue Drive vehicles*.

The i10 Blue, i20 Blue, i30 Blue and ix35 Blue.

The Blue Drive vehicles make a realistic solution for modern day motorists by combining improvements in emissions and not compromising on their performance in any respect, be it reliability or driver satisfaction.

Application of the Hyundai-specific ISG (Idle Stop and Go) is a noticeable change from the drivers point-of-view. This system cuts the engine when the car is stationary and restarts it when the clutch pedal is pushed.

To maximise energy regeneration when braking an alternator management system is added, disconnecting the alternator when it is not required.

Through these and other adjustments, the CO2 emission levels of the i10 i20 and i30 blue models have been lowered to the sub-100g/km range.

Another ix35 has taken CO2 emissions out of the equation altogether. The ix35 FCEV (Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle), making its debut, takes Hyundai that one step closer to the commercialisation of hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles. With this Hyundai is set to meet its goal of increasing production volume of FCEV’s into the thousands by 2012.

18-03-2010 - Hyundai Concept Car

Hyundai Concept Car

Making its global debut at the Geneva Show, Hyundai displayed the i-flow aimed at carrying on their new ‘fluidic design’, and helping to lower the car’s CO2 emissions to just 85g/km, pointing the way to a new production of a D-segment car.

The i-flow has a stance similar to that of a coupe compared to that of a D-segment saloon. Despite the sporty look of the i-flow, it redefines space, and the use of cutting edge materials for such elements as the seats and centre console help to minimise the weight and volume.

The main attraction to the i-flow is that it is Hyundai’s first diesel-electric hybrid powertrain, using an exciting new 1.7litre engine plus two-stage turbo-charging and six-speed, dual-clutch transmission.

The i-flow is a test bed for new technology ranging from flexible solar panel roofing to a thermo-electric generator which uses exhaust heat to produce power.

*Production of models begins from the end of 2010 and others the end of 2011.

18-03-2010 - Scrappage News

Scrappage scheme drawing to a close but great savings still available…

The Governments scrappage scheme is entering its final phase, the scheme will end either when the Governments allocation of funds is exhausted, or at midnight on the 31st March 2010, which ever comes first. And with a restricted number of cars allocated to each dealership on the scrappage scheme it is clear that the whole scheme is slowly being brought to a close.

Industry figures have showed again and again the benefits that the scrappage scheme is continuing to deliver to the automotive sector and beyond. It is great news that in January scrappage helped the industry to achieve its biggest output gain since May 1976.

Business Secretary Lord Mandelson said:

“I am pleased to see that the scheme has been taken up by so many people, supporting our automotive manufacturers through a very difficult time.”

“With limited orders as we near the close of scrappage there is a risk of disappointment for car buyers. I would urge people who are still keen on taking part to put their orders in as soon as possible as time is running out.”

But our customers need not worry as there are always savings to be had and special offers to help you.

03-12-2009 - Hyundai News

As you might well imagine, October has produced yet another record performance for Hyundai in the UK. Overall, we delivered no less than a staggering 7,197 vehicles. Year to date (end Oct) our sales stand at 47,757.

In terms of the all important Retail Sales measure, we finished just behind Ford in October with 6,709 registrations, and have delivered 41,118 Year to Date. What is particularly gratifying is that everywhere you drive you see brand new Hyundai's now, a great advert in itself for our Brand.

Matrix and Coupe are now virtually run out, and stocks of the current Santa Fe are reducing in accordance with our Plan in order to allow us to make the maximum impact with the new vehicle when we launch it in January. We have had a number at our office over the last week and they are driving superbly. With ix35 on the horizon 2010 looks set to be the year we return to our traditional levels of success with two of the best SUV's on the market.

Looking at specific ranges, i10 once again dominated its sector, whilst i20 delivered another outstanding performance, and yet again we collectively delivered an astonishing result with 1,629 vehicles delivered in the month bringing the total Year to Date to 10,750. The i30's class leading residuals, SMR, emissions and low acquisition costs are starting to draw unprecedented levels of attention from corporate business this is a very important sector of the market. Whilst the National Scrappage order take has decreased, we have seen far less of a fall off. An opportunity I am sure we won't waste.
